Writing Tips

Find an Agent with #PitMad

Writers who have not found their agent-match yet, consider #PitMad, a special event that occurs quarterly on Twitter each year. How does #PitMad work? Well, we’ve got the scoop.

According to the official website, #PitMad is the original Twitter pitch event, where writers tweet a 280-character pitch for their completed, polished, unpublished manuscripts. No previously published works. Agents and acquiring editors make requests by liking/favouriting the tweeted pitch.

Writers and agents alike benefit from this event and it seems like many people have had success. If you’re a writer with a completed manuscript and no agent, you’re welcome to participate. The main rule that participants need to keep in mind that they should not like tweets that are posted that day for the event…that’s for the agents to do!

This event isn’t just for writers, either. Agents also love participating because it gives them the opportunity to pick up new writers to represent and jump on projects that sound like a great fit for them.

If you’re participating in this event this year, we recommend crafting your official pitch tweet in advance to save yourself stress and worrying on the day of. Just like writing the novel itself, a little preparation could make a world of difference for you!

This year’s events take place on the following dates, from 8am-8pm EST:

March 4, 2021
June 3, 2021
September 2, 2021
December 2, 2021

Check out the official guidelines here and shoot us a comment if you’re planning to participate. We’ll be glad to show our team Novlr participants some extra love on June 3!
