Who can join?
Any writer with a Novlr account. No account yet? You can make one as you join Draftsgiving. It's completely free and only takes about a minute.
Which words count?
Words you add to your chosen project between 1 and 30 November will all count toward your Draftsgiving goal. Cutting words lowers your count, so it's the perfect time to focus on words on the page.
When does a day end?
At midnight in your own time zone. Draftsgiving wraps at 11:59pm on 30 November, wherever you are.
Why are there preset goals?
Novlr has custom goals available all year round, with an amazing Discord community to cheer each other on. This event is for us to do something different, and preset goals are all about giving you a little push to do something you'd normally never attempt. With that said, we know that not everyone has the same time available to them, which is why we've given three goal options to choose from. We want to issue a challenge without you burning out.
Can I change my goal?
Yes, any time in November. Whether you're feeling ambitious, or need a more attainable goal in the time you have available? All options are valid, and we won't force you to write more than you're able.
What do other writers see?
Your username and profile picture, and that's all. Your project and your words are private.
What about co-authors?
Draftsgiving goals are based on your project word count, not your personal one, so if you're collaborating on a project, all words added to the project will count toward your goal. Co-authors can join separately with the same project, with their own goals, but both writers' additions will progress both goals.
I write offline. Do my words count?
Novlr is not designed for long-term offline writing, but if you go offline temporarily while writing or drop connection, your writing will sync with our servers and update your goal the next time you go online.
Can I leave?
Yes. You can leave the event at any time. Your project will still be stored in Novlr's servers for you to export at any time. We'll never keep them hostage. And if you decide to continue using Novlr, then your project analytics will remain synced with the app, ready for you to set your own goals in the future.
Draftsgiving is run by Novlr.
